Arturo Torres Posada was a former Colombian football executive.

Career

He was born to a poor family in a small village in the outskirts of Medellín in 1912. He went on to box for a short time, and later completed his post-secondary studies in Argentina in the area of urban architecture. While in Argentina, he fell in love with a woman who later bore his child. Given their circumstances, they would never see each other again once he completed his studies.

Later he married and had 10 children. His wife eventually succumbed to cancer. His second wife, Lucila Torres Toro, with whom he had two daughters, survives him.

Atlético Nacional

In 1942, he was part of a group who founded the football team, Atlético Nacional, then known as Unión. This was his second attempt at football, his first being with Club Huracán, now defunct.

Atlético Nacional would become the first Colombian team to win the Copa Libertadores.

He died on December 10, 2003, after battling various ailments.
