Aryeh W. Alex (born February 7, 1985) is an American politician who serves as Trustee for Franklin Township, Franklin County, Ohio.[1]. Alex is a Democrat.
Early life[edit]
Aryeh Alex was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to mother Rena Alex, a billing manager for the University of Cincinnati Physicians, and David Warda, a public school teacher, chef, artist, and author. Raised as a humanistic Jew, he and his family were members of Congregation Beth Adam. He attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts, a K-12 Cincinnati Public School, where he majored in Creative Writing.[2]
After a brief stint at Cincinnati State College where he studied Culinary Arts, Alex attended the University of Cincinnati studying political science. In college, Alex became active in the local College Democrats of America, starting a chapter at Cincinnati State and a member at the University of Cincinnati.

Political Activism[edit]
While in college, Alex joined his first political campaign as a staff on the John Kerry for President campaign as a student organizer in 2004. In 2005, ran the Cincinnati city council campaign of Samantha Herd. The following year, Alex become the deputy executive director of the Hamilton County Democratic Party and was elected co-chair of the Cincinnati Democratic Committee, the municipal central committee of the Democratic Party in Cincinnati, Ohio.
After running and working on several municipal campaigns and county-based issues levies, Alex joined the Steve Driehaus race for Congress in 2008 where he served as field director of the winning campaign. Following this major upset, Alex led the then-newly formed organizing department at OCSEA/American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 11 as its organizing director, where he organized workers in the public sector and played a critical role in defeating the anti-union Senate Bill 5.
He served as a Regional Director in the National Political Department at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) where the focus of his work centered on developing and executing electoral, community base building, union, and social justice campaigns in states and municipalities across the country[3].
Since 2015, Alex leads advocacy and electoral programs as the Director for the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund[4].
Elected Officeholder[edit]
In 2017, Alex was elected Township Trustee for Franklin Township, Franklin County, Ohio running on a platform of fighting the opioid epidemic[5], supporting our first responders[6], and rebuilding strong relationships with Franklin County, Ohio and the City of Columbus, Ohio[7].[8]
Family and personal life[edit]
Alex has a passion for protecting natural resources led to his involvement of the Friends of Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, where he serves as President since 2017[9]. Alex works in this role to expand park access to underserved communities, creating an opportunity for individuals to experience nature for the first time, and expanding park access to all. Alex resides in Franklin Township, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, with his wife, Grace, where he enjoys hiking, nature photography, and volunteering as a naturalist. He is a member of the Hilltop Kiwanis, United Westside Coalition, and serves on the executive committee of the Franklin County Democratic Party[10][11]
