Ash Gupta (born 8 April 1952; Full name: Ashwini Gupta) is a pioneer in the industry of machine learning and big data analysis.[1] He was an executive officer in American Express (AXP) and promoted company-wide innovation to help drive up the growth of revenue.[2][3]

Education[edit]

Ash Gupta earned a bachelor of engineering degree from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Delhi (1974). He also received an MBA after his course in Columbia University (1977).[4][5]

Career[edit]

After graduating from Columbia University, Ash Gupta joined American Express, where he remained till his retirement in 2018.

He rose to become the President of the Global Credit Risk and Information Management Group of the American Express Company. The goals of the team were to control credit and fraud risk, and accelerate revenue growth through capabilities and innovation, especially focused on big data and machine learning. [6] Gupta was responsible for cognitive technology and big data analysis in American Express. He said, “all of the data analyses that cognitive technologies can perform will help the business grow and ultimately require more people.” [7]

He is now the chairman of the compensation committee at Encore Capital Group.[8]

In 2018, he joined Corridor Platforms as the Chairman[9], and has been focusing on building next generation Risk Management platforms for global financial institutions along with the founders Manish Gupta (CEO) and Jean-Paul Ndong (COO).
