Ashish Chanchlani (born 8 December 1993)[1] is an Indian comedian and YouTube personality known for his YouTube channel.[2][3] In 2020, Chanchlani became the third Indian individual YouTube content creator to have over 20 million subscribers.[4] He has been featured in Forbes India' "30 Under 30" list in 2021 and Entrepreneur India's "35 Under 35" list in 2020.[1][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Chanchlani was born on 8 December 1993 in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, to Anil and Deepa Chanchalani. His sister Muskan is also a YouTuber.[1] Ashish has a civil engineering degree from Datta Meghe College of Engineering.

Career[edit]

Chanchlani used to make short videos on Instagram and other social media platforms in 2014, but he started making videos on YouTube, inspired by the positive response on Instagram.[6] He created his YouTube channel on 7 July 2009.[7][2] His first debut YouTube video was titled "How to annoy people who say ‘Tu Mere Baap Ko Janta Nahi Hai’" which was 36 seconds long.[6][2]

In 2019, Chanchlani reached 10 million subscribers on his channel.[8]

Chanchlani has collaborated with mainstream Bollywood actors such as Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor, and Kartik Aaryan[9] and in 2020, Joe Russo was interviewed by Chanchlani during the world premiere of Avengers: Endgame.[10]

He performed at the "YouTube Fanfest" in Mumbai in 2018 and 2019.[11][12] He has been part of the webseries Class of 2017 presented by AltBalaji.[2] In July 2020, Chanchlani released a horror-comedy short film, Akhri Safar starring Akshita Sonawane, Deepak Sampat and himself.[2]

In November 2020, Chanchlani appeared in the "How is Covid impacting the future of work" episode of the BBC show Work Life India.[13]

He was awarded the title of "Digital Influencer" at the Indian Television Academy Awards 2021.[14]
