Ashish Raorane (born 6th October 1981) is an Indian cross-country rally racer. He has competed in some of the toughest rallies in the world, including the Dakar Rally[1], often as the only Indian and privateer. In a relatively short time span, Ashish has built a formidable racing portfolio that includes the likes of the Dakar Rally, Africa Eco Race (AER), the 2019 FIM Baja World Championship series, where he placed 12th in the world overall, the highest overall ranking any Indian has ever achieved in the FIM Baja series.[2]
Despite several hurdles, lack of infrastructure, and training time, he has managed to complete each rally with promising results, often in the top 20, his best being 7th in class and 10th overall (2019 Hungarian Baja Rally).
Early Life
Ashish was born in Mumbai, India. His parents moved to a small town Kolhapur shortly after, where he spent most of his younger years. He has been involved in sports from a young age, representing his district in Cricket and Table Tennis competitions.
