Asmodel is a fictional fallen angel, a supervillain, and a comic book character published by DC Comics, named after the Asmodel of Christian theology, the Angel of April and Patience. He first appeared in JLA #7, created by Grant Morrison and Howard Porter.[1]

Fictional character biography[edit]

Asmodel was a King-Angel of the Bull Host of Heaven, aiming to overthrow the Presence and rule Heaven. His plans were discovered by Zauriel, who fled to Earth. Asmodel sent Bull Angels after Zauriel, but they were defeated by the Justice League. Asmodel then descended upon San Francisco with an angelic chariot. The Justice League halted his plans, with Superman and others reversing the Moon's descent and defeating Asmodel with a sonic generator.[2]

Asmodel later allied with the demon lord Neron and returned to Earth in a child's body, attacking the Watchtower and killing the Martian Manhunter. He was defeated by Zauriel. Asmodel and Neron later attacked Heaven but realized the Presence was unconquerable. Asmodel was sentenced to Hell, becoming Neron's prisoner.[1]

Asmodel later bonded with the Spectre-Force, aiding in an attack on Earth. He was defeated by Earth's heroes.[3]

Powers and abilities[edit]

Asmodel possesses invulnerability, reality-warping powers, psionic energy manipulation, telepathy, telekinesis, weather control, and energy/matter command. He has superhuman strength rivaling Superman and the Martian Manhunter, and can recover from injuries instantaneously. His angelic abilities include a sub-sonic attack, laser vision, and the Light of Heaven. He also has immortality, super speed, flight, and acidic blood.[4][5]
