Aspectus is an annual peer-reviewed academic journal in the history of art, published by the University of York. The journal was established in 2019 by Blair Apgar and Caitlin Doley. The journal is advised by an external board, consisting of art historians such as Whitney Davis and Emanuele Lugli.
Aspectus covers research on any period in the history of art by current or recent members of the postgraduate community of York's History of Art department. Aspectus also publishes reviews of exhibitions and new scholarly publications. As Aspectus is open-access, past issues of the journal remain online in perpetuity.
