Summary[edit]

Ollie Watkins opened the scoring in the fourth minute for Aston Villa following a mistake from Liverpool goalkeeper Adrián. Watkins scored his second goal of the game in the twenty-second minute, assisted by Jack Grealish. Mohamed Salah made it 2-1, scoring for Liverpool in the thirty-third minute. John McGinn restored Villa’s two-goal lead following a deflection after a corner conceded by Liverpool following a Ross Barkley shot being saved by Adrián. Watkins completed his hat-trick with a header in the 39th minute from a cross by Trézéguet. In the second half, Barkley made it 5-1 to Villa in the 55th minute, followed by Salah scoring his second of the game in the 60th minute. Jack Grealish, who had assisted three goals in the game, scored two to make it 7-2 in the 66th and 75th minute respectively.[1]
