Atera (Hebrew: אטרה) is a remote monitoring and management and professional services automation software as a service platform, developed by Atera Networks Ltd. The service targets managed services providers and IT professionals who manage companies' computers, desktop and mobile, through remote administration, IT process automation and issue tracking system.

As of July 2021, the platform served 7,000 customers, managing millions of endpoints.[1]

The company was founded in 2011[2] and is based in Tel Aviv.[1] The founders, Gil Pekelman and Oshri Moyal, serve as CEO and CTO (accordingly).[1]

The company bootstrapped[1] and only raised money in 2021. First, $25M at the beginning of the year,[3][4] and then $77M on July, in a round led by General Atlantic, at a valuation of $500M.[1][5][6]

In 2021 the company filed a patent related to "Automated Control Of Distributed Computing Devices".[7]

Product[edit]

The remote administration of devices is done through existing clients: TeamViewer, AnyDesk, ConnectWise Control or Splashtop.[8] According to Forbes, the platforms excels in scripting, noting its shared script library.[9]

According to the CEO, the company democratizes capabilities that existed in enterprises, making it available to SMBs.[1] The platform is built specifically for organizations with less than 1,000 employees.[1]

In addition to management done by the IT professionals, the platform offers its customers diagnosis tools, predicting problems with hardware, software and network, or security issues.[1]

The platform integrates with security tools such as Malwarebytes,[10] Bitdefender, Webroot, Emsisoft, including automatic patching of software for security weaknesses, monitoring across devices etc.[11]

The company's co-founders, Gil Pekelman (CEO) and Oshri Moyal (CTO), still lead the company over a decade after its foundation. They participate in interviews regarding their areas of expertise,[12] and so do their executives.[13]
