On September 6, 2026, during a campaign stop at the Canfield Fair at the Canfield Fairgrounds in Canfield, Ohio, an armed man charged toward Amy Acton, the former Director of the Ohio Department of Health and Democratic nominee for the 2026 Ohio gubernatorial election. Several people were injured before the man was stopped by Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, and Acton was unharmed.[1] Authorities said the man had two pistols and a taser, and the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office said two handguns and brass knuckles were recovered after the arrest, but that no weapons were brandished or removed from their holsters.[1][2] He was booked on charges of disorderly conduct and two counts of assault.[1] Ohio governor Mike DeWine and Acton's Republican opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy, condemned the incident.[1]
