2021 Downtown Minneapolis bar shooting
At around 2 a.m. May 22, 2021, gunfire erupted outside of the Monarch nightclub in downtown Minneapolis, killing 2 and wounding 8. One of those killed was one of the two shooters exchanging gunfire with each other. The shooting occurred at the 300 block of 1st Avenue North.[1] The victims consisted of five men and five women. Two men were standing on a sidewalk in a crowded area, got into a verbal confrontation, pulled out guns, and then gunfire erupted.[2] A 23-year-old Bloomington man would later be arrested.
The shooting came after a chaotic time in Minnesota involving protests, riots, and a surge of violence.
