Attih Ekpenyong, known professionally as Attih Soul, is a Nigeria-born singer, songwriter and musician currently based in Barcelona, Spain. He is also known for performing at events such as World Music Day at the French Institute in Nigeria, where he received the “Best Performing Group” award alongside The A-Team,[1][2] and the Road to Yalta Music Festival, where he was awarded a Golden Microphone by Lev Leschchenko.[3]

Early life and education[edit]

Ekpenyong was born in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.[4][5]

Ekpenyong graduated from the University of Calabar with a bachelor’s degree in medical biochemistry.[3][6] Ekpenyong also earned a dual master’s degree in international talent management and leadership from Barcelona Executive Business School and Catholic University of Murcia.[3][6]

Career[edit]

Soul began his music career by singing at events such as open mics.[4] He also competed on reality singing competitions like the aforementioned Nigerian Idol, Voice Cross River, and MTN Project Fame West Africa.[4][7]

On May 29, 2017, Soul was chosen by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to write and perform the theme song for Nigeria’s Democracy Day.[8][9] In the same year, Soul performed his first international concert in South Africa and released his first single, “Say You Love Me.”[10][11]

Soul performed alongside Yaroslav Sumishevskiy and the Otta Orchestra at the Road to Yalta Music Festival in Yalta, Russia in 2020.[8][9] After performing, he was awarded a cash prize, an award of excellence, and a Golden Microphone by Russian singer Lev Leschenko, who served as the event’s chairman of the jury.[8][12]

In February 2022, Soul released the first single titled “Friendzone.”[4][13] In the same year, he released a second single, titled “Someday I’ll Find You.”[14][15]

In June 2023, Soul signed a management deal with the French management company Talent and Skills.[16] In the same month, he released the acoustic EP The Acoustic Experiment.[17][18]

In September 2023, he performed a concert in Barcelona to promote his new album launch.[6][19]

In November 2023, he released the album Shades of Emotions.[20]
