Father Augustine Fernandes OFM is a Franciscan priest working in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Karachi in Pakistan.
Biography[edit]
His doctoral dissertation on the philosophy of Muhammad Iqbal provides a valuable account together with a critical appreciation of Iqbal’s Islamic humanism.[1]
Father Fernandes taught psychology at Saint Patrick's College, Karachi from 1962-64.[2] He has also been a Professor at the Christ the King Seminary (Pakistan).
He is a gifted preacher and from 1966 to 1975 was a regular preacher at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Karachi.
Together with Tim Heinsch, he formed the first Franciscan community in Bangkok in 1985.[3]
In 1987 he went to the US to do a course in Transactional Analysis. On his return to Pakistan he set up practice as a relationship counselor in Catholic Colony.
