The Australia Independent Film Festival (AIFF) was founded in 2017. It's an annual film festival held in Brisbane, Australia.[1] Known as the festival where stars shine, the Film Festival has become one of Australia's premiere. In 2018 at the Metro Arts theatre Irish film Wild Goose Lodge won the first Best Feature Film category.[2]

The festival is supported by the Queensland Government through sponsorship by Screen Queensland via the Screen Culture Funding program.[3]

In 2019 AIFF was ranked in the top 100 best reviewed film festivals on FilmFreeway[4] out of over 9,000 of the world’s best film festivals and contests.[5]

The festival showcases Short Films, Animations, Documentaries, Music videos and Experimental Films across a number of screening sessions. Off screen activities include filmmaker Q&A's, and workshops.[6] The festival is also an IMDB[7] qualifying event. Main awards include: Best Australian Short Film, Best First Time Filmmaker, and Best International Short Film. [8]
