Australian National College of Beauty

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Australian National College of Beauty (ANCB) is an Australian private beauty therapy college that offers vocational education and training.

The college is owned by education provider Think Education, itself part of the Laureate International Universities group. Think Education was previously owned by SEEK Learning.[1]

Other Think Education colleges include: Billy Blue College of Design, CATC Design School, APM College of Business and Communication, William Blue College of Hospitality Management, Southern School of Natural Therapies, Australasian College of Natural Therapies and Jansen Newman Institute. Together these colleges have in excess of 10,000 students enrolled.[2]

History[edit]

ANCB began as a part of the Australasian College of Natural Therapies (ACNT) when the latter expanded its Sydney campus to include a spa facility.[3]

In 2008, Think Education purchased ACNT and the college was able to greatly upgrade its facilities and grow its curriculum. The Australian National College of Beauty was officially born in 2009 when Think Education opened a new campus in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, which included ACNT as well as Think Education partners Billy Blue College of Design, CATC Design School, and APM College of Business and Communication. The Brisbane campus was further upgraded to include The Wellbeing Clinic (now the Think Wellbeing Centre).

In 2010, the college officially opened in Sydney and operated from its own campus in Surry Hills. Two years later, ANCB began offering its Diploma of Beauty Therapy course online and, as a result, the college grew four-fold.

Campuses[edit]

The college now has two campuses in Sydney (Pyrmont) and Brisbane (Fortitude Valley). [4]

The campus at Pyrmont was opened in 2013 and is shared exclusively with partner colleges Jansen Newman Institute and the Australasian College of Natural Therapies, while Brisbane is also shared with the Australasian College of Natural Therapies, as well as APM College of Business and Communication, William Blue College of Hospitality Management, Billy Blue College of Design and CATC Design School.[5]

Courses[edit]

ANCB offers a single course, a Diploma of Beauty Therapy, with two specialisms in Spa Treatments and Relaxation Massage.[6][7]

Industry Recognition[edit]

The college is an accredited school with the Comité International d’Esthétique et de Cosmétologie (CIDESCO)[8], as well as with ITEC [9]. This allows ANCB students to undertake further coursework to become internationally accredited practitioners with these two globally recognised bodies.

The college has partnerships with Steiner Leisure, a chain of beauty spa facilities, and CHI The Spa at the Shangri-La, the beauty spa within the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney.[10]

Think Wellbeing Centre[edit]

The college operates a student-run, public-facing clinic, the Think Wellbeing Centre, where students are able to practice on paying clients as part of their coursework. Each clinic session is supervised by a qualified and experienced practitioner.[11]
