Avenade is the noise rock project founded in Illinois in 2018 by Matt Hawkins. He has released three solo albums: It's a Whimsical Afterlife (2019), Vice Versa in Such Things (2020) and Our Raging God Unknown to Us (2023), as well as various EPs preceding his album releases.
History[edit]
Avenade formed as a solo project of Matt Hawkins in 2018 and has self-released all three EPs and albums. The latter two albums are the only releases to feature contributions from other musicians.
Initially featuring a melodic lo-fi sound rooted in genres such as noise pop, garage punk and indie rock, succeeding album releases have featured a dense shoegaze sound, increased frequency of screamed vocals and heavier composition, later including elements of alternative metal and post-metal.
