Avenged Sevenfold's yet untitled album will be the heavy metal band's seventh studio album. The album has a 2016 scheduled release date. It will be the band's first album with the new drummer Brooks Wackerman, after previous drummer Arin Ilejay left in 2015.

Background[edit]

In late 2014, vocalist M. Shadows said the band would take some time off before writing new material in 2015. In summer of 2015, the band departed ways with drummer Arin Ilejay. It was later revealed that the band had hired former Bad Religion drummer, Brooks Wackerman as the new drummer.

In early 2016, the band was involved in a lawsuit with their former label Warner Bros. Records, after the band decided to leave the label by the Californian law, which gives the artist the right to leave the contract after 7 years.

On March 31, 2016, the band posted a teaser video on their YouTube channel, showing the band in the studio demoing. The band played a 50 seconds long track as "the taste of what's to come."

Musical style[edit]

In an interview with Kerrang! magazine, guitarist Zacky Vengeance described the album as "pretty much completely aggro", with a lot of aggressive and melodic directions. He also said the album has a lot of metal elements the band grew up loving.[1] In an interview with Metal Hammer, drummer Brooks Wackerman said "there's going to be a lot more risks taken", compared to the previous album Hail to the King.[2]
