Aviajet was a Dublin-based air charter broker and virtual airline.[1] While not an airline, the company provided flights for tour operators.[citation needed] A 2005 press release described it as "Ireland’s largest charter airline" reportedly carrying "325,000 passengers per year".[4]

Its flights were operated mainly by McDonnell Douglas MD-83s.[2] One of its MD-83 aircraft, leased from Dubrovnik Airline, was returned in 2007.[5] Air Atlanta Icelandic and euroAtlantic Airways also operated Boeing 767-300s for Aviajet.[6][7] Operating in Aviajet livery, airlines that leased Aviajet's aircraft included MAP Jet and Spanair.[citation needed]

In August 2007, a charter Aviajet McDonnell Douglas aircraft aborted a landing at Dublin Airport when the pilot reportedly mistook the lights of a nearby hotel for the "approach lights of the airport’s runway".[8]

According to the community-maintained website, planespotters.net, Aviajet "ceased operations" in 2008.[9]
