Awlyahan Mohamed, known professionally as Awlyver (pronounced as "all-e-vrr"), is a Canadian rapper and songwriter from Vancouver, British Columbia. Awlyver first gained recognition in May 2020 after his debut performance for MTV Africa livestream benefit day concert where he represented his roots of Somalia and performed his debut single "Oh Man".[2]
Musical Career
Awlyver launched his music career in early 2020 where he released his debut single "Oh Man" after spending some time working on music in Atlanta he released his second single "Semantics" featuring Billboard platinum producer DJ Suede the Remix God on the outro of the track includes renowned actor "Idris Elba" talking and mentions Awlyver's name.[3] Later in the year of 2020 Awlyver released his single "Known Better" featuring female artist "Rude Nala", a catchy Trap R&B song that displays Awlyver's lyricism and sound.[4] [5] Early 2021 Awlyver won music platform Audiomack's annual competition called "Stamped" where independent artists could get their music discovered by the VP A&R of Warner Records "Ericka J Coulter" who has worked with artists such as Rick Ross and Giveon. She selected Awlyver as the winner of the competition.[6] [7] On August 3rd, 2021 Awlyver released his debut EP "Damage Control", a project where he focuses on mental health, emotions and experiences during the pandemic.[8]
