Awsten Constantine Knight (born January 17, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Waterparks.

Early Life[edit]

Knight was born in Houston, TX. Awsten states that he picked up playing the guitar at a very young age when the band Sum 41 inspired him to make music.[3] Awsten was born with Heterochromia iridium[4], his left eye is a muddled grey blue while the other is a bright green, but not only are his eyes of a different pigment in parts of his hair.

Career[edit]

Waterparks (2011–present)[edit]

Awsten Knight is an original member of the band, Waterparks. Their debut EP, Airplane Conversations was released in 2011.

The band's next release, Black Light, was the first release by Waterparks with Wigington on lead guitar and drummer Otto Wood on drums. Black Light's first single, "New Wave," features Knight in the music video subsequently losing a triathlon to Travis "Travie Swifty-Leg Quickblood" M. Riddle.[5]

In November 2015, the band signed to Equal Vision Records and released their third EP, Cluster, on January 15, 2016. Soon after, the band embarked on their first tour, the Black Cat Tour with Never Shout Never and Metro Station.[6] The band then played Slam Dunk[7] and every date of the 2016 Vans Warped Tour.[8]

On November 6, 2016, the band released their first full-length album, Double Dare, and went on the End The Madness tour with Sleeping With Sirens, State Champs, and Tonight Alive.[9] They embarked on their first ever headline tour in January 2017 with Too Close To Touch, Creeper, and Chapel.[10] They then supported All Time Low on their United Kingdom tour with SWMRS and played the Young Renegades Tour with the two aforementioned bands, Night Riots, and The Wrecks.[11]

On November 27, 2017, Awsten released his first official solo single, Wrong, it was sent out with a tweet hours later it was deleted and the only known copies of the single are posted by users on youtube[12] [13]

The band toured on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour with As It Is, Chapel, and Sleep On It starting on November 6th, 2017 and ending on December 7th at the House of Blues in Houston,TX. On January 26, 2018, the band's second full-length album, Entertainment, comes out with 10 tracks.

Awsten + Travis’ Slumber Party Podcast[edit]

Awsten + Travis’ Slumber Party is a podcast co-hosted by Awsten Knight and Travis Riddle wherein they lovingly read and review sweet bedtime stories in the form of Waterparks fanfiction. The podcast is currently broadcast through Idobi Radio, and can also be found on sites like iTunes. [14] The podcast debuted in January of 2018.

Felony Steve[edit]

Felony Steve is the name of Awsten Knight's current alter-ego. Awsten has released many satirical songs under this pseudonym, the most recent being Money Mountain Vol. II which features songs like FELONY REUNION, MY QUINCENIERA, and WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DADS (19 HOURS).[15] Lil Kidz Bop is another one of Knight's alter-egos, and he features on some of Felony Steve's songs. [16]

Influences[edit]

Knight has cited Kanye West, No Doubt, Beach Boys, and Fall Out Boy amongst others as his biggest influences musically.[17]
