Axel Ibrahim Mansoor (born June 29, 1992), known professionally as Axel Mansoor, is an Emmy-nominated American singer and songwriter. He is best known for his single "Wasted My Love".

Biography[edit]

Axel Mansoor was born in Bethesda, MD to Mauritian-born parents. Growing up, he moved around the world for his father's job, living in places like Zimbabwe, Shanghai, Belgium, and Mauritius before landing in California.[1] A graduate of the University of Southern California, Axel began his recorded music career with Daniel Weidlein, who engineered and produced his early recordings.[2]

In February 2017 Axel released his debut single "Wasted My Love", which reached #5 on Spotify’s US Viral 50 chart, received radio play from Jason Kramer of KCRW[3] and garnered praise from several influential music blogs including Ones To Watch[4] (Live Nation's music publication), Line Of Best Fit[5], Earmilk[6], and others. More music followed including the single “Talk To Me”, which was accompanied by an innovative vertical music video that premiered on BuzzFeed's Snapchat Discover channel[7] and received a co-sign from Kaskade.

Axel has also released a number of collaborations with DJ/Producers, including releases on Proximity[8] and ALT:Vision/Republic Records[9].

In April 2018 he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Best Original Song in a Drama for his work on ABC's General Hospital[10] and in June he released his debut EP "Somerset"[11] which consists of self-produced stripped-down acoustic songs.

Axel has shared the stage with performers as Frenship[12], Chela, Yoke Lore, and Josh Radnor, and is also a regular performer at Sofar Sounds events around the country.
