Axie Infinity
Axie Infinity is a blockchain computer game first released in 2018 by the Vietnamese developer Sky Mavis.
In the game (based on Axolotl, Pokémon and Tamagotchi[1]) virtual game characters, called "Axie's", can be bought, raised, traded and fight gainst each other.[2] Each Axie is an ERC 721 token with its own appearance and "genetic code", which is stored in the blockchain. Since January 2019, virtual land can also be purchased in the game.[3] In March 2019, an Axie was sold for the record sum of 85.2 ETH.[4] Since August 2019, Axie Infinity has a partnership with Klaytn, which has over 120 million users.[5] In October 2019, a cooperation with Samsung took place.[6] To date, over 1.6 million US dollars have been sold (converted) in NFT's via the game, as well as 1.8 million US dollars in trading volume generated by players.[7][8] In November 2019, the companies Animoca Brands, Hashed, Pangea Blockchain Fund, ConsenSys and 500 startups together invested 1.465 million US dollars in the development company Sky Mavis.[9]
