Davonte Revees (born December 14th, 1997), known professionally as Ayeté is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and producer from Waldorf, Maryland.
Career[edit]
Ayeté began his music career in 2016 while still attending The Maryland Institute College of Art for a bachelors degree in drawing. Later that same year he released his first official music video titled "I Am The Plug" on YouTube which generated over 2,000 streams. Since then Ayeté has released multiple tracks on different streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Itunes, Spotify, Google Play Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Sound Cloud. In 2018, He released his second music video to his hit single "Lit" which generated a substantial amount of traffic to his YouTube channel as well as his Instagram account. In early 2019 , he dropped another hit single titled "Drippy Te" which generated a huge amount of traffic to his Instagram account, This eventually lead to the song getting played on air on 93.9wkys. Since then Ayeté has released another single titled "Double Up".
Artistry[edit]
Ayeté has stated that he is influenced by Future, Gunna, Travis Scott, Migos, and a lot of up and coming rappers he surrounds himself with. Ayeté makes heavy use of audio manipulation effects such as Auto-Tune, echos, delays, and harmony structures. His musical style has been described as a "blend between traditional hip-hop/rap music and southern trap music but with his own spin on it. It is often characterized as ambient but upbeat. Té himself has said "You never know what to expect from me, I'm more than one genre".
