Ayn Cates Sullivan is an American writer. Her writing focuses on Celtic mythology, the Grail Quest, and spiritual evolution. Sullivan holds a doctorate in Anglo-Irish Literature from Kings College London.
She writes for adults, young adults, and children. Sullivan has also been included in several anthologies. She also established Infinite Light Publishing & Media, an independent publishing house.[1]
Early life and education
Born Ayn Wesley Cates, Sullivan completed her bachelor of arts degree with honors from Hollins University, followed by a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry from Columbia University, New York City. In 1985, she received an Overseas Research Award to Kings College London and earned her doctorate in Anglo-Irish Literature in 1993.[2]
In addition, Sullivan also holds a master's in spiritual psychology from the University of Santa Monica.
In 2006, Ayn Wesley Cates married John Patrick Sullivan and changed her name to Ayn Cates Sullivan. Her early books, Consider This (Findhorn Press, Scotland) and Tracking The Deer (Envoi Press, Wales), were written under her maiden name.
Career
In 1989, Sullivan joined Kingfisher Books in London as an assistant editor. In the following year, she became a lecturer at colleges and centers in the United Kingdom. She moved to Los Angeles and became a co-owner of the Healing Center of Santa Monica, leading many workshops and giving private consultations. In addition, she developed a line of color essences known as Entheos Essences, which became the template for her later work as a storyteller.
In 2012, Sullivan founded Infinite Light Publishing (currently Infinite Light Publishing & Media) and began publishing her own children's books, and then eventually went on to publish other authors.[3]
She has appeared on dozens of television shows, podcasts, radio shows, including The Author's Show, Ron Stark Show, Donna Seebo Show, Transformation Talk, Rose Columbo blog talk radio, Susan Alan TV, Crucial talks, and several Superpower up! podcasts including Superpower Kids, Sex, Love & Superpowers, and Incorporating Superpowers.
Publications
In 1991, Sullivan won a chapbook competition and her first book of poetry, Tracking The Deer, was published in Wales. Her first book of non-fiction, Consider This, was published soon afterward in Scotland.
Sullivan has published several books on Celtic mythology including Legends of the Grail: Stories of Celtic Goddesses, Heroines of Avalon & Other Tales (an Amazon best-seller),[4] and her novel, Nimue: Freeing Merlin. She has also written several award-winning children's books, including A Story of Becoming (an Amazon best-seller), Sparkle & The Gift, Kachina's Rose, Sparkle & The Light, Ella's Magic, and Undina's Spell. All of these books were illustrated by Belle Crow duCray.[5]
Sullivan's other fables include Eala: Mother Swan: La Madre Cisne (bilingual book), illustrated by Paige Ozma Ashmore, and Whisper Angel, illustrated by Sandra Betancort.[6]
Sullivan gained recognition by publishing a chapter in the anthology, Quitless: The Power of Persistence in Business and Life. Quitless became a Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Amazon best-seller. Sullivan's writing has also been included in several other anthologies, including Thresholds and High-Profit Secrets.
Media
Sullivan is the host of two podcasts on the Super Power Network. The first is Wisdom of the Ages, which focuses on bringing the sacred into everyday reality.[7]
Her Messages of Infinite Light focuses on discovering the truth of who we are and imagining where we are going as masterful creators. These are messages for evolving humanity.[8][9]
