Azad Karsol Al-Shakarchi (Arabic: آزاد الشكرجي; born 20 July 1953), is an Iraqi businessman and an international economic expert, and he established many projects of the economic, investment, and educational sectors in Europe and the Middle East.
He achieved in 2011 the largest residential project in Iraq known as "Azad City," which includes 4,600 housing units, and the project is located in Kirkuk. This project will contribute to solving the housing crisis afflicting the province of Kirkuk.[4] And he established a communications network "Azad Cell" which provides Iraqi citizens with all communication services, and he established "Azad FX" for stock exchange and financial transactions. And he established in Erbil "Azad Steel" for the production of steel, which is used in buildings, structures, and construction.[5]

Early life
Azad left Iraq 35 years ago during the rule of the former Iraqi regime, which opposed him with many opposition politicians, economists, and academics, and he succeeded in outside Iraq establishing many international companies and economic relations, investment, and educational projects in Sweden, Romania, United Kingdom, Lebanon, and other countries. After the fall of the regime, he returned to work on Iraq’s rebuilding that was destroyed by wars that buffeted over the past decades, and after his return to Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region, several residential projects were built in the region and the province of Kirkuk, which contributed to the construction boom that has worked after returning to Iraq consolidating and the development of international relations between his country and the countries where he worked outside of Iraq. He was one of the first who fired the development of economic and investment relations between Iraq and Kurdistan, Lebanon, Sweden, Romania, and other countries. He is married to Jordanian university professor Dr. Serin Qutaishat, and he has two sons.
