Azmari Nirjhar[1] was born on 14 January 1984, also known simply as Nirjhar is a Bangladeshi famous singer of modern Bangla song and a playback singer as well. She is expert in various types of song, such as Classical, Nazrul, Folk, Modern etc. She has been awarded several times for various kinds of songs. She has also achieved many national awards. Nirjhar is a well-established female singer in Bangladesh whose music has got acceptance among all types of fans.[2] She is continuously upholding her fame by singing solo songs in different films and albums as well.[3]
Early Life & Background
Azmari Nirjhar was born on 14th January 1984 in Gagan Babu Road, Khulna. Her birth name was Aman Umma Azmari Nirjhar. She passed her childhood in Khulna. Her father, S.M. Alauddin, is a businessman and her mother, Iffat Ara, was a crime reporter of The Daily Purbanchal in Khulna. Besides, she was a poet and writer. Nirjhar is younger between two sisters. Her elder sister, Alia Abir, is a housewife. Nirjhar started her career at the age of only 4 with classical dance and, at a certain period, she learned classical and Bharatnatyam dance as well. Her dance teacher was Ustad Sharif. When she became 5, she started learning music. At first, she started learning from her grandmother, who was once a renowned singer in Pakistan Radio. Nirjhar got admitted herself in Nazrul Academy, Khulna when she was 7 while learning from her grandmother. Her Ustad Azizur Rahman gave her proper lessons on Nazrul sangeet. After that, she took lessons on classical music from Ustad Golok Bihari of Kolkata, India. Then she came back to Dhaka in the year 2000. At that time, she took lessons from Ustad Bashu Dev Ghosh for 1 year. She passed S.S.C in 1998 from Govt. Coronation Girls school and H.S.C in 2000 from Govt. Paionier Girls college. She completed her graduation with Honors in Management from Lalmatia Girls college in 2005. In 2007 she completed her M.B.A in Management. In her childhood, she got different awards in acting, drawing pictures, playing badminton and martial arts besides music and dance. She also took part in modeling in her very early age. Her 1st stage show was in a charity program when her father had an accident, when she was 12 years old. She gave her first audio voice in Khulna Radio at the age of 9, which was recorded. Music Career
Her first studio solo album was “Poramukhi” which was released on 4th October 2003. She went abroad in 2004 to perform for the first time outside her own country in Sharjah Stadium Dubai. She started her career as a playback singer in the same year. Her first playback song was “Kane kane boli sono priyo” from the film “Nisshash ea bish”, lyricist Kabir Bokul, music director Sowkat Ali Emon with Badsha Bulbul as a co-artist. Her second solo album “Surjomukhi” got released in 2005. In the same year, Nirjhar gave her voice in a remix song “Ekta deshlai kathi jalao” with Habib Wahid [4], in the banner of Bangla Link, one of the famous songs of Asha Bhosle, and the song took Nirjhar to the peak of fame. Next, “Jani ekdin ami chole jabo” from the album “Hridoy mixed” by Hridoy Khan again made her famous for the second time in 2008. In 2010, “Ajker aei nishi” composed by Hridoy Khan from the album “Hridoy Mixed 2” increased her music fans. In 2012 her third solo album was “Shopnomukhi”. She has given her sweet voice in more than 500 jingles and for more than 50 movies as a playback singer. Her songs have been enriched in more than 150 mixed albums. She has performed music in more than 20 countries. In 2015, she completed her sound engineering degree. After 2015 she moved to Paris, France, and then in 2016 she started her music career with world-famous musician Jordi Savall. Also in 2017 she started teaching refugee children. Now she is participating in several festivals in Europe with Jordi Savall.
