Bäckar is an alternative pop artist, based in Los Angeles, California, and was formed in 2020.
Formation[edit]
Bäckar is the solo project by artist, songwriter and producer Joseph Brooks. Using a wide range of influences, he is creating forward-thinking pop with meticulously crafted soundscapes. His debut single ‘Anything For You’ highlights everything that we can expect in the future. [1]
Influences[edit]
The artist cites Charli XCX, The Drums (band), Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Tears For Fears, The Beach Boys and The 1975 as strong influences in their sound, creative aesthetic and approach to music, both sonically and psychologically.In July 2020, they were featured in an interview with online music magazine AVA Radio in which they discussed the single as well as other artists that shaped their art, perspective and inspiration.[2]
