BBQ Pit Boys is an American-based YouTube cooking show[1] and a Worldwide fraternal order and social club founded in 2007. It is the leading Barbecue fraternal order worldwide, claiming nearly 5,800 Chapters[2] and Pitmasters[3] in over 100 countries.

Founded and on YouTube before Google purchased the popular video steaming website, the BBQ Pit Boys were awarded as a YouTube "Next Chef".[4] The Pitmasters starring in the show are known for publishing videos of old time grilling techniques, as well as new recipe inventions and innovative techniques, generally out of meat products, bacon, and often including alcohol. It debuted in 2007, and since then has started to release an episode every Sunday. It is hosted by Bob Ahlgren[5] and a group of his friends. They are now represented by Palm Tree agency,[6] and have signed with multi-channel network Tastemade.[7]

The series began in Middlefield, Connecticut, the group's place of origin, but episodes have been filmed in Tokyo and Taiwan, where the BBQ Pit Boys with guest stars have made appearances.

Beer Can Bacon Burgers[edit]

In March 2015, BBQ Pit Boys created a video[8] that would go viral two months later in May 2015 - going from 200,000 views to over 4,600,000, due to massive press coverage on 30,000+ web sites including BuzzFeed[9] and Metro (British newspaper),[10] Bam Margera,[11] The San Francisco Globe,[12] among others - prior to Memorial Day featuring a stuffed burger formation technique entitled Beer Can Bacon Burgers,[13] where a Beer Can is used as a mold to create a bacon-wrapped hamburger cup to be grilled as a stuffed burger.

Jack Daniel's Burgerfest in Prague[edit]

In 2015, the BBQ Pit Boys have been sponsored by Jack Daniel's[14] to headline the 4th annual Burgerfest, an event in Prague with more than 60,000 attendees.[15]

Johnny Winter's Last On-Screen Interview[edit]

Johnny Winter, American blues guitar legend, was known to be a friend of the BBQ Pit Boys, also from Connecticut. Johnny Winter's last known video interview prior to his death, published on Jul 17, 2014,[16] aired from the Pit, on the BBQ Pit Boys official YouTube Channel.

Publicity & News Mentions[edit]

The Huffington Post[17] featured an article about the BBQ Pit Boys' invention of the Burger Dog, while NOLA.com[18] featured an article about the Beer Can Bacon Burger.

In London, the Daily Mail[19] published an article in which they interview the BBQ Pit Boys about preparing deep fried turkey.

A Forbes article about YouTube chefs[20] included the BBQ Pit Boys Grilling Show amongst only 15 total "YouTube Next Chefs" worldwide.

According to an article in The Japan Times,[22] the BBQ Pit Boys also seem to have trained the chefs at a prominent campground in Tokyo.
