B.I.G.CO.W. (BIGCOW) is the acronym for Bone Infection Group Coventry and Warwickshire.

History[edit]

BIGCOW is a multi-disciplinary group that was formed at University Hospital Coventry in 2005 consisting of orthopedic surgeons, microbiologists, infectious diseases specialists and other healthcare professionals that share an interest in the management of musculoskeletal infections.

The group meets every fortnight to discuss patients with periprosthetic joint infections and fracture-related infections that get referred not only from the two hospitals in the Trust, one of the major trauma centre in the UK, but also from the surrounding units in the West Midlands.

Over the years the group has published a number papers in peer reviewed journals and its members have been busy lecturing and presenting at many local, regional, national and international events (see attached list of presentations). BIGCOW team members participate regularly also sent a delegate to the International Consensus Meeting [1] on Orthopaedic Infections that took place in Philadelphia in 2018.
