Music career[edit]

Samuel Aniekan, known professionally as BJ Sam, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He began his musical journey with the IBC Choir in Ibadan, an international classical mass choir consisting of various professional singers. Later, he formed an acapella/R&B group called The Simplest Guyz.

In 2012, Sam embarked on his solo music career and released his song "Mon Amour" in 2017. This song garnered attention from Hollywood music supervisors, including Ben Kopec from Epitome Music Library, Suzanna Hilleary from Wacbiz, and Lloyd Kaufman, co-founder of Troma Entertainment.[1]

In 2017, Lloyd Kaufman selected "Mon Amour" for the soundtrack of the Hollywood movie Heart of Fartness.[2]

The music video for "Mon Amour" attracted the attention of TV5Monde, the third most available television network globally. They interviewed him on their musical program Stars Parade and invited him to perform at their musical concert "Tounkagouna".[3]

In December 2022, BJ Sam made history by featuring musicians from all continents in one song, "Merry Christmas." This included Hollywood actor Paul Raci, Bollywood playback singer Jaspinder Narula, Ghanaian singer Diana Hopeson, and Swiss actress Christina Zurbrügg.[4]

In response to the war in Ukraine, BJ Sam assembled 23 artists from all continents to release a music video titled "Show some love," advocating for peace and urging Russians to lay down their weapons.[5]
