BKEX was a cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in the British Virgin Islands.

History

The exchange was founded in 2018 with headquarters in the British Virgin Islands.[1] The platform offered various services including spot trading, derivatives, leveraged tokens, and staking. BKEX claimed to support over 1,200 crypto assets with over 8 million users from more than 100 countries.[2] As of 2020, it was reportedly one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges by transaction volume.[3] In 2019, Forbes reported that the exchange was replicating Binance's exchange history to appear that it was a more active trading platform than it really was. At the time, it claimed $1.1 billion in daily trade volume.[1]

Suspension of operations

On May 29, 2023, BKEX suspended all withdrawals, citing cooperation with a police investigation into alleged money laundering involving user funds.[2]

Following the withdrawal suspension, BKEX's social channels went inactive and its website went offline. As of January 2025, BKEX has not resumed operations.
