BLive E-Bike Tours is India’s first e-bike tourism initiative that offers curated and experiential tours on electric cycles.[1]

It was founded in 2018 and headquartered in Goa, India. BLive E-bike Tours operates in Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat with tours happening in over 15 locations.[2] [3] In 2020, the company launched a multi-brand electric vehicle retail platform called BLive EV Store. The website sells electric cycles and electric scooters. BLive has raised $1 million USD in funding as of June 2021.[4][5][6][7][8][9]

History

BLive was founded in 2018 by Samarth Kholkar and Sandeep Mukherjee. In November 2018, the company began operations in Goa and launched the initiative in the presence of Manohar Azgaonkar, (Minister of Tourism and Sports, Goa), Rohan Khaunte (Minister of IT, Revenue, Labour & Employment, Goa), Dayanand Sopte (Chairman Goa Tourism Development Corporation) and Nikhil Desai (Managing Director, Goa Tourism Development Board.)[10][11] In 2019, they expanded to Gujarat and Puducherry. In the year 2020, they launched in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala and Rajasthan, and in 2021, they launched at three locations in Himachal Pradesh, covering 15 locations in the span of two years with a fleet of 240 e-bikes.

As of November 2020, BLive has completed 13,000 tours, saving 900 grams of CO2 per guest (internal combustion engine 2 wheelers emit 900 grams of CO2 every 10 kilometers)[12]. The environmental impact is equal to carbon absorbed by 571 fully grown trees with 1.3 lakhs of electric biking done. BLive also provided employment to 200+ families – 40 direct and 160 indirect (partners, local artisans, tour guides, local businesses) while engaging 50 local guides for conducting tours and storytelling.

Partnerships

BLive has partnered with state government tourism boards like Goa Tourism Development Corporation[13], Kerala Tourism, Rajasthan Tourism and Puducherry Tourism. They have a nation-wide tie up with Club Mahindra and IHCL SeleQtions.[14] In July 2021, they announced a partnership with Green Cross UK to champion the cause of Electric Mobility in tourist destinations across the world. As part of this partnership, BLive and GCUK will formulate various initiatives to drive EV adoption in tourist destinations.[15] In August, 2021, BLive EV Store partnered with Ather to set up charging stations across Goa – the first ones to be installed in the state.
