Babangida Kabir Ruma (born 23 February 1990) is a Nigerian youth advocate.[1] He is the founder and CEO of Opportunities Hub,[2] a job website that focuses on ending employment discrimination in Nigeria and providing employment opportunities to unemployed youth in Nigeria.[3][4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Ruma was born in Batsari in Katsina State to a fulani family. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Information and Communication Technology at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.

Career[edit]

In 2014, Ruma established the Society for the Mentally Handicapped in Malaysia to combat mental disability in children.

He is among the largest social media influencers in Nigeria.[citation needed] In 2015, he was appointed as peace ambassador of the Commonwealth Youth Council.[6][7]

In October 2010, Ruma founded the Arewa Youth Awareness Initiative Forum, AYAIF. He still serves as the president.[7]

In 2015, he wrote a letter to Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to create more spaces for the Nigerian youth in his administration.[6]

Book[edit]

In 2018, Ruma published a book titled “Technology: A Tool for Youth Empowerment," talking about technology opportunities for youth.[8][9]

Awards and recognitions[edit]

Ruma has been nominated for the African Youth of the Year (Male) Award.[8][10][11]
