Babulal Mewra aka Mewaraji is a Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Members of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Vijaypur Vidhan Sabha constituency (formerly, Bijaypur and Bijeypur), one of the 230 Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) constituencies of Madhya Pradesh state in central India.

He is among the well known political leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh. He has been elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA 2 times from Vijaypur Vidhan Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh (MP).

Political Career[edit]

He started his political career in year 1975, a year when state of emergency was declared across the country lasting for 21 months from 1975 to 1977 by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Leaders such as Vijayaraje Scindia, Jayaprakash Narayan, Raj Narain, Morarji Desai, Charan Singh, Jivatram Kripalani, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Arun Jaitley, Satyendra Narayan Sinha, Gayatri Devi, the dowager queen of Jaipur and other protest leaders were immediately arrested. Along with tallest leaders, He was also under preventive detention, being a leader in Madhya Pradesh (MP), during state of emergency in July, 1975 to February, 1977.

He got elected 2 times continuously as Janapada Membar in 1977 and 1982. Later on, He got elected to Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1985 and subsequently in 1998 from Vijaypur.

He was State Minister [1] in Forest department, Government of Madhya Pradesh during 2010 till 2013.

He supports ideology of Bharatiya Janata Party.

Personal life[edit]

He is married to Mrs. Dolly Mewra. He has two sons Mahesh Mewra and Radheshyam Mewra.
