Back 2 Basics (B2B) is an American band formed by John Paris and Eddie Mininfield, known for their extensive contributions as musicians and collaborators with iconic artists across various genres. B2B's music blends elements of smooth jazz, soul, R&B, pop, blues, and funk, reflecting the diverse musical backgrounds of both members. Paris's multi-instrumental abilities and Mininfield's saxophone expertise contribute to the band's dynamic and eclectic sound.

History[edit]

John Paris and Eddie Mininfield first began collaborating musically at the age of 15, performing together in several Top 40 bands in the Bay Area, including All As One and Mixed Company. Their early performances at clubs throughout California and Japan helped establish their musical careers.[1]

Both musicians later transitioned into successful careers as touring and session musicians. Eddie Mininfield has recorded and performed with artists such as Verdine White, Prince & the Revolution, Sheila E., Beyoncé, Paula Abdul, Stevie Nicks, among others.[2] [3] John Paris, in addition to his work with B2B, is the drummer for the legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire.[4] and has also performed and recorded with Bob Dylan, Whitney Houston, Patti LeBelle, Natalie Cole, Donna Summer, Meghan Trainor, Kelly Clarkson and others. [5]

After years of individual success, Paris and Mininfield reunited to form Back 2 Basics, revisiting the fundamental musical styles and influences that shaped their early years. The band's name, B2B, symbolizes this return to their musical roots.
