History[edit]

Baesman Printing was founded by Richard Baesman, Sr. on March 15, 1952. At the time, Richard was an accountant at Omar Bakery, a large regional bakery based in Ohio. Richard felt that Omar Bakery could save money by investing in its own printing operations rather than outsourcing their printing requirements. Richard pitched his idea to the senior management team at the bakery, but they declined his suggestion; nonetheless, he approached Omar Bakery with a proposal to print material for them as a client and proceeded to start Baesman Printing.

Omar was his first client, but that was not enough to support the business. Richard worked long days, selling printing during the day to drum up new clients, and conducted printing jobs at night in his garage until he was able to move to a storefront on West Broad St. in Columbus. The business grew and Richard's son, Richard Jr., joined the business and eventually became president in the early 1970s.

In the late 1980's, Richard’s Jr. sons, Rod and Tyler, joined the company when Baesman Printing had already expanded to a fourth location on Hardy Parkway on the south side of Columbus, making it the third generation of Baesmans working in the family business. The Hardy Parkway location had about 9000 sq. ft of space, and at the time they had approximately 17 employees.

Baesman Group continued to grow, and eventually became one of the largest commercial printing companies in Ohio. In 1995 the company moved to its current corporate office in Hilliard, Ohio. The facility is 150,000 square feet and has approximately 150 employees. Rod’s daughter and Tyler’s son joined the company and now represent the 4th generation, continuing a generation of family members who have worked at and continue to grow the company.

Richard Baesman provided the foundation for everyone and his example of hard work and perseverance in the face of uncertainty have allowed the company to expand and grow in unexpected ways. For instance, in the spirit of entrepreneurship, much like his grandfather, Rod wanted to find a way to increase value in the printing business by removing the middleman. His vision was to fulfill printing needs and the work going into what is produced thereby providing additional value to his clients.

Marketing Services[edit]

Using market-driven data analytics, Baesman created their CRM and Loyalty division[1], which helps brands capture DTC customer data, analyzes their behavior, and uses the results to create data-driven marketing strategies[2]. The CRM and Loyalty team is considered to be an extension of brand marketing teams for prominent retail brands across the country.
