Bahamas Petroleum Company plc is a petroleum exploration company headquartered in the Isle of Man. The company is publicly traded on the AIM registry of the London Stock Exchange, with core operations located in The Bahamas.
Operations[edit]
The company holds oil and gas exploration licenses issued by the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.[2] The company primarily focuses on evaluating the potential of carbonate reservoir systems within the licensed regions of Bahamian waters, which cover approximately 16,000 sq km (4 million acres).[3]
History[edit]
Founded in 2005, the Bahamas Petroleum Company was formed primarily to invest in an offshore oil exploration program within licensed areas in territorial waters and maritime Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of The Bahamas. In 2007, The Bahamas Governor General granted exclusive exploration rights, subject to conditions, for a period of 12 years divided into 4, equal 3-year periods.
