Bajgain

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Bajgain is a surname of people from Nepal. They are of Bahun/Brahmin caste and of Aryan origin. They hail from Kashmir and Kamboj. They are believed to have arrived from central Asia, entering Kashmir and ultimately western Nepal. The Bajgain were primarily found in the Seti zone of Nepal. They settled in western Nepal, forming a kingdom known as Bajhang. In Bajhang, there were already some tribal people, and they also adopted the surname. Almost all of the Bahun community originated from far-western Nepal before migrating to the eastern pahad, speaking what became known as the Pahadi language. Some remained, and some moved eastwards. Today, Bajgain are found in the far-western, central, and easternmost parts of Nepal. Like Bajgain, there are other surnames with a similar ending, e.g., Chapagain, Gurungain, and Humagain.
