Bajirao Mastani is an upcoming Hindi period romance film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film is based on the love story between Peshwa Baji Rao I and his wife Mastani. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, respectively and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai, Bajirao's first wife.[1] The film is slated to release on December 25, 2014.

Casting[edit]
The film was announced in 2003 and was constantly in the news regarding the cast, including such actors as Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji.[2] However, in April 2014 it was announced that the film stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead, reuniting with Bhansali after their successful venture Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. The two will essay the roles of Baji Rao I and Mastani.[3] It was later announced that Priyanka Chopra will play the role of Kashibai, Baji Rao's first wife.[4]
