Balbir Singh is an Interventional Cardiologist,.[1] and Cardiac Electrophysiologist. [2][3] He is currently the Chairman of Electrophysiology and Pacing at Medanta Heart Institute - Division of Cardiology, Gurgaon, Delhi NCR, India[4][5]He is a Padma Shri awardee, the fourth highest Indian civilian award by the the Government of India.[6][7]
Education and career[edit]
Balbir Singh completed his MBBS & MD from the prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi .[8]
He started his career with the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as a faculty member in cardiology.
He holds a Fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology from Milwaukee & American College of Cardiology and has written many chapters in books and journals.[9][10]
He is currently on the board of the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society and also served as the President of the Indian Society of Electrocardiology (ISE)[11]
Awards & Recognitions[edit]
In 2007, Balbir Singh was recognised in the Limca Book of Records, a reference book which showcases India's Incredibles, chronicling their achievements across different fields, for his editorial contribution in the Indian Electrophysiology Journal.[12]
Medical Excellence Award (International Study Circle) in the Year 2002, - in recognition of the work in the Interventional Cardiology.[13]
Sujoy B. Roy Best Young Investigator Award by the Cardiology Society of India for research work in interventional cardiology.[14][15]
