Balitang A2Z is a Philippine television newscast broadcast by A2Z. It premiered on July 26, 2021. The program is the flagship national newscast of the network and anchored by former DZMM personality Barbie Muhlach.[1][2]
Overview[edit]
Prior to the launch of Balitang A2Z, ABS-CBN News produced news updates for the station called A2Z News Alert on November 1, 2020. It served as News Patrol's de facto spin-off newscast and free-to-air successor, using the latter's studios and graphics. However, compared to its now-cable counterpart, A2Z News Alert only airs during events of national importance (e.g. Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses). A2Z News Alert was the first news program (and the only news program produced by ABS-CBN News) that airs on the channel.
Rumours have also been floating about the 'return' of ABS-CBN's flagship newscast TV Patrol on free TV via A2Z when the channel was launched on October 10, 2020. However, the program wasn't included on the channel's program lineup and aired movie block Primetime Zinema instead.[3]
On June 22, 2021, ZOE Broadcasting Network posted job advertisements on its Facebook page relating to its station-produced news program.[4] On July 23, 2021, A2Z aired plugs for the upcoming newscast and on July 26, Balitang A2Z premiered at 10:30 pm.
From July 30 to August 13, 2021, Balitang A2Z temporary suspended its operations due to COVID-19 related concerns and their hampered operations.[5] The newscast is also available on its Youtube channel.[6]
