Ballu Saluja is an Indian film editor[1], producer, screenwriter and director and an Academy Awards member at OSCARS[2]. who is well recognized for more than two decades long experience for his Remarkable work in the field of editing in the Indian as well as the International film Industry. Graduated in Economics (1994) from Punjabi University Patiala, he had no formal training in the field of editing. He started his career before digital platforms came in and saw a transition from linear to nonlinear editing during his vocation. Back in his career, before the advent of digital editing, he would cut up the film in long strips and piece it back together, creating rolls of film.
Career[edit]
He started his film career by editing Oscar nominated movie Lagaan (2000), Pinjar (2003), Swades (2004) Jodhaa Akbar (2008), R.. Rajkumar (2013), Dangal (2016).[3] Ballu has edited an International Chinese film YI He Bu Xi Baan (English meaning: Looking Up). He was the sound designer for the film Paltan. Ballu has also directed an advertisement for Ketomac Shampoo in 2010. He is also an academy member (OSCARS) in Editing branch.[4]
Ballu edited many TV series, ADS, Documentaries, and AVs and learned the craft of Cinema with time. He gained his stardom by editing Oscar-nominated films Lagaan(2000), Pinjar(2003), Jodhaa Akbar(2008), Dangal(2016), Mulk(2018) and more. He also worked as a sound designer for the film Paltan and directed an AD for Ketomac Shampoo in 2010. In 2018, Ballu was selected by Academy Awards (Oscars) to be a member of the editing department.
