Balneochemistry
Balneochemistry is a branch of balneology focused on the chemical composition and both physical and chemical features of natural healing raw materials (therapeutic waters, gases and peloids); as well as the assessment of their potential application in the treatment and in the production of thermal products.[1] Balneochemistry is a branch of thermal medicine focused on recognizing natural resources and chemical analysis of therapeutic waters and peloids in order to apply them in the thermal station treatment. Chemical analysis and the assessment of therapeutic properties of natural resources allow for updating criteria for the assessment of therapeutic waters and peloids and updating their classification. Balneochemistry also deals with new therapeutic natural resources as well as products and preparations derived from therapeutic natural resources.[2]
