BancPlus Corporation is an American bank holding company founded on July 21, 1994, and specializing in credit cards, auto loans, banking, and savings accounts, headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, with operations primarily in the United States.
History
The company was founded as Citizens Bank and Trust Company in 1909. The name was changed to Citizens National Bank of Belzoni in 1965. In 1971, the name was changed to Citizens Bank & Trust Company, then finally to the current name, BankPlus in 1994. Similarly, the holding company was founded in 1982 as Citizens Financial Corporation. Then, the name was changed to the current name, BancPlus Corporation in 1994.[2]
Acquisitions
BancPlus Corporation acquired State Capitol Corporation in September 2019, completing the merger effective April 1, 2020. The leading bank, State Bank and Trust Company, merged with BankPlus.[3]
BancPlus Corporation acquired First Trust Corporation, parent company of First Bank and Trust, on March 1, 2022.[4][5]
Marketing
After acquiring First Bank and Trust, BankPlus renamed its local headquarters building on Poydras Street to BankPlus Tower.[6]
