Band Melam is a 2026 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film written and directed by Sathish Javvaji.[1] Produced by Kavya and Shravya Kona under the Kona Film Corporation banner, the film features Harsh Roshan and Sridevi Apalla in the lead roles, following their previous collaboration in the film Court.[2][3] The film was released worldwide on 26 March 2026.[4]
Plot
Giri (Harsh Roshan) and Raaji (Sridevi Apalla) are childhood friends raised in a small village whose relationship blossoms into love as they grow older.[5] The narrative follows their emotional journey against the backdrop of a local musical band, exploring themes of rural culture, music, and the challenges faced by their bonding in a changing environment.[6]
Cast
- Harsh Roshan as Giri
- Sridevi Apalla as Raaji
- Sai Kumar
- Goparaju Vijay
- Lakshman
Production
The film marks the second collaboration between lead actors Harsh Roshan and Sridevi Apalla.[3] It was presented by Mango Mass Media and overseen by veteran writer-producer Kona Venkat.[7] Sathish Javvaji served as the director and primary writer, while Siva Mupparaju handled both the screenplay and film editing.[8]
The technical crew included cinematographer Satish Mutyala and art director Narni Srinivas.[9] Filming primarily took place in rural settings to capture the "rooted" aesthetic of the story.[3]
Music
The soundtrack and background score were composed by Vijai Bulganin.[4] The lyrics for the songs were penned by Chandrabose and Kasarla Shyam.[5] The first single, titled "Thippukuntannav," was released in February 2026 and featured vocals by Ramu Rathod and Aditi Bhavaraju.[3] Another track, "Ekkadi Dongalu Akkade Gapchup," was performed by Mangli.[10]
Release
Band Melam was released in theaters on 26 March 2026 with a UA certificate.[5] It faced competition at the box office from other Telugu releases including Dhurandhar: The Revenge.[8]
Reception
The film received generally negative reviews from critics. The New Indian Express gave the film a rating of 1/5, describing it as a "tedious and disconnected narrative" that failed to utilize its rural setting effectively.[6] Telugu Cinema rated the movie 1.5/5, criticizing the weak script, "amateurish" direction, and the lead actors' performances, noting that the 140-minute runtime felt "exhausting."[8] Conversely, audience reception on platforms like BookMyShow initially showed a more positive trend with a 9.1/10 rating from early viewers.[5]
