Bang Phlu (Thai: บางพลู, pronounced [bāːŋ pʰlūː]) is a four-way intersection in the area of Bang Rak Yai Subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. It is a meeting point of Rattanathibet (Highway 302) and Bang Kruai - Sai Noi Roads and also a location of MRT Purple Line's Bang Phlu MRT Station (PP04).

Description

Bang Phlu is served by BMTA air-conditioned bus route 134 (Bua Thong Kheha Village–Mo Chit 2) and commuter air-conditioned bus route 337 (Pathum Thani–The Mall Ngamwongwan) as well as multiple local minibuses.[1]

Bang Kruai - Sai Noi Road from Bang Phlu intersection, in the direction it runs south past the entrance of Wat Suan Kaew temple where the famous monk preacher Phra Phayom Kalayano is the abbot, then turns right onto Bang Yai - Bang Khu Lat Road to reach the Old Bang Yai Market on the edge of the Khlong Bangkok Noi canal. At this point is the end of the Khlong Bangkok Noi that flows from Bangkok's Thonburi side, where it confluences with Khlong Bang Yai and Khlong Om Non on the boundary between Bang Len and Bang Muang Subdistricts of Bang Yai District.

At the point where the canals confluence, it used to be a bustling community and marketplace, including being the center of Bang Yai District in the name "Talat Bang Yai". Later the market shifted to Kanchanaphisek Road (Outer Ring Road) opposite Central WestGate, currently known as "Talat Bang Yai Mai" (New Bang Yai Market).[2][3]
