Banuba is a computer vision startup developing augmented reality and 3D facial animation technology for mobile devices. The company focuses on face-augmenting reality producing its Face AR software development kit (SDK) to enable AR experiences for the front-facing camera..[1] [2]
The company is headquartered in Hong Kong with the R&D center in Minsk, Belarus, and offices in Krakow, Poland and Limassol, Cyprus.

Banuba was founded in May 2016 as an AI laboratory developing computer vision and augmented reality technologies for mobile devices. In Feb 2017 Banuba secured $5 mln investments from Viktor Prokopenya's VP Capital and The Gutseriev Family's Larnabel Ventures. [3] [4] [5] The investments were spent on the development of the technology portfolio and internal product development.
In 2016, the revenue per employee at Banuba exceeded the average among residents of the Hi-Tech Park by more than 4 times. This was one of the reasons for the visit of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the company's research and development in Minsk in March 2017.[6] [7] [8]
In Nov 2018, Banuba received another $7 mln funding from the same investment units with the total amount reaching $12 mln[9] and announced the launch of its new SDK for third-party companies and brands who want to use 3D Face AR in their apps. [10] [11]
In July 2019, Banuba was listed among the 10 most valuable startups in Europe specializing in face recognition and tracking according to Silicon Canals.[12]

By November 2019, Banuba has 32 granted and published patents and 9 filed patents in the fields of computer vision, face detection and tracking, image processing, avatar generation and design. [13] [14] [15] Some of them are:

5. Subject stabilisation based on the precisely detected face position in the visual input and computer systems and computer-implemented methods for implementing thereof.[20]
6. Computer systems and computer-implemented methods specialized in processing electronic image data.[21]
