Barb Kaalberg

Barb Kaalberg is an American comic book inker who has worked for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Image Comics, Malibu Comics, and Silverline Comics. Kaalberg is also the Chief Financial Officer for Silverline Comics.

Career

Kaalberg broke into the comics industry as a painter. She was hired by WaRP Graphics in the late 1980s to do a painted backdrop for their convention booth. Kaalberg's first comics job was doing grey washes for Eternity Comics before becoming an inker at Adventure Comics.

Kaalberg worked at Marvel Comics, Image Comics, DC Comics, Malibu Comics, and other major comic book companies throughout the 90s and early 2000s. Kaalberg notably worked on DC Comics Impulse and Primal Force.[1][2][3]

Kaalberg worked in the art department on the Nickelodeon series Angry Beavers. Kaalberg also appeared in the 2019 documentary Beyond the Comic Panels.[4]

In 2018, Kaalberg became a creator at Silverline Comics. She was also named the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Kaalberg created her own story called Divinity at Silverline.[5]

Personal life

Kaalberg is married with two children and two grandchildren. She was born and raised on a farm in Iowa. She now lives in Wisconsin.

Kaalberg didn’t learn to color comic books until she turned 60.
