Bartosz Rudecki (born April 14, 1999), also known as xntentacion, is a Polish Twitch streamer and a chess player. During Online Chess Boom [3]in early 2021, Rudecki rapidly gained popularity, and for over one month was #1 most watched streamer in Poland[4].

Early life[edit]

Bartosz Rudecki was born in Radomsko, Poland on 14 April 1999[5]. He attended to K.K Baczyński Highschool in Radomsko[6]. As a junior chess player, he played in multiple tournaments, including European Youth Team Chess Championship in 2017[7]. In 2018, he began studies at Warsaw School of Economics, which he represented in Polish University Chess Team Championships[8][9].

Career[edit]

In August 2020 Bartosz Rudecki created the channel called "xntentacion" on Twitch streaming platform. He started to stream regularly in September of that year, playing mostly TeamFight Tactics and League of Legends, with an average viewership around 10[10]. At the end of the year, streaming chess became main activity on his channel. Around that time, Netflix TV show The Queen's Gambit was released, causing a surge in chess interest. On January 7 2021, Rudecki created a YouTube channel. He also began to collaborate with American chess streamers, including Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, which brought the attention of the wider audience[11].

On April 8 2021, Rudecki took part in All-Stars Bullet Chess Championship, organized by Chess.com, along with other chess celebrities, such as WFM Alexandra Botez, WFM Anna Cramling, WGM Qiyu "akaNemsko" Zhou and GM Maurice Ashley[12][13]. Rudecki won against Alexandra Botez, but lost to Qiyu Zhou, who eventually won the whole tournament[14]. Live broadcast of the event on the Rudecki's channel was watched at the peak by 58,570 viewers, setting a record of the Polish Twitch Livestreaming[15][16]
