Basanta Sadan English Boarding School (Nepali: बसन्त सदन इङ्लिस बोर्डिङ स्कुल), opened in 1986 is the first modern school in Basantapur, Tehrathum.[1] The school was originally built to teach children of local citizens.

Basanta Sadan English Boarding School, established in 1986, is the first boarding school in Basantapur, Tehrathum. Located in Laligurans Municipality, Tehrathum, it produced some of the popular personalities of the region.
The school lies next to Basantapur Bazar. The school was originally an elementary English school. Feeling the need to provide education to the local children, the founder, Bhim Bahadur Adhikari, set up a school in 1986 with teachers imported from Darjeeling and Sikkim to teach children.
In 2008, the first ever SLC batch of the school appeared for the School Leaving Certificate Examination Board
The school was renovated in 2020 with new buildings. The compound comprises three-storey school building with 17 classrooms.
Present day[edit]
As of 2022, around 300 Students are studying in Basanta Sadan English Boarding School. Currently, there are 14 teachers teaching in Basanta Sadan English Boarding School. Among them, 5 teachers are for secondary level, 3 for lower secondary level and 6 for primary level. At the present, there are 3 staffs for the school administration.
The school recently established Student Representative Council (SRC) (Initiative of Students) and revived the Junior Red Cross Society (JRCS), with focus more towards the extra curricular activities and leadership. The school further plans to operate classes 11 and 12.
